Freddy Mercury: How a polite African schoolboy became pop's most outrageous frontman...

He wasn't Freddie Mercury, rock star, back then.

There was no Queen. No packed Wembley Stadium. No adoring fans. And no tragic death at the hands of AIDS.

He was Farrokh Bulsara when he was born in Zanzibar in 1946 before going to a boarding school in India when he was eight.
