UN panel on climate change head Rajendra Pachauri accused of sexual harassment and stalking...

The head of the United Nations’ Nobel Prize-winning panel on climate change is being investigated for stalking and sexually harassing one of his employees.

Dr Rajendra Pachauri is under police investigation after a member of his staff complained he had bombarded her with suggestive emails and text messages and engaged her in “sexually-laden” conversations over a two year period.

Police in New Delhi have asked Pachauri to hand over his laptop computer and mobile telephone as part of their investigation.

Pachauri and his UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change won the Nobel Prize for their work on global warming in 2007 but he has been involved in a number of controversies since then.

He was forced to admit the panel’s claim that the Himalayan glaciers would melt by 2035 was false. The claim had been cut and pasted from unverified research, and Pachauri later admitted he had not fully read his own report. Full story...
