Bombers attack Pakistani cinema for playing porn films...

The Shama cinema in Peshawar was a spot for taxi drivers and off-duty soldiers to while away a weekday afternoon in a fug of cannabis smoke, watching pornographic movies.

But Tuesday put an end to Peshawar’s last public haven of vice, when bombers hurled hand grenades into the audience, killing at least 10 people watching a Pashto-language film.

The attack came barely a week after the Picture House, another local cinema, was targeted in the same way, leaving four people dead.

Ijaz Khan, Peshawar’s police chief, said no-one had yet claimed responsibility for the attack on The Shama.

 “Terrorists threw three Chinese-made hand grenades into the cinema hall at 3.40pm when the show was in progress,” he said. Full story...
