Bo Xilai 'blocked investigation into Neil Heywood death'

The disgraced Chinese politician Bo Xilai will be charged with deliberately blocking investigations into the murder of British businessman Neil Heywood, according to reports.

Mr Bo, who was the powerful party chief of Chongqing, is expected to go on trial for corruption, embezzlement and abuse of power in the coming weeks.

The once high-flying politician was toppled last March in the wake of Neil Heywood's mysterious death inside a Chongqing hotel room, a crime that was later attributed to Mr Bo's wife, Gu Kailai.

On Tuesday, amid increasing speculation about the start date of the long-awaited trial, the Chinese business magazine Caijing shed further light on the charges that Mr Bo is likely to face.

It claimed Mr Bo would be accused of "preventing" his former police chief, Wang Lijun, from investigating Mr Heywood's death and unlawfully relieving Mr Wang of his duties. Full story...
